With an illustrious entrance gate, Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple is quite eye-catching. This is also an important stop over (Edathavalam) for the Sabarimala Ayappa Temple Pilgrims. Thousands of Pilgrims pay homage to this temple each year. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva with Goddess Bhagavati, Sastha, Ganesha, Krishna and Yakshi are subordinate deities. This temple is very famous for 7and ½ Golden Elephants (Ezharapponanana) which takes out for public Dharsan during festival.
Thulabaram is one of the importing Rituals of Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple. After a wish has been fulfilled, the person or a child concerned with the said wish is put on a weighing scale and the offerings to the Lord (in money food and other things) is matched to their weight.
Oil to Kedavilakku (Valiyavilakku) is also one among the other rituals of Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple.
Each year around February- March the Temple hosts the Aarattu Festival. On the 8th and 10th day of the Celebration, the statue of Seven and a half Gold Elephant (Ezharapponnana) donated by the Travancore Maharaja are displayed here. Colorful and alluring, Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple is a must visit.
